Georgia's first all-fiber network was created by Dalton Utilities in 2003 and today the network boasts more than 400 miles of 72- and 120-count fiber optic cable. The utility offers competitive rates on OC3 connectivity and an impressively stable data environment, down to the very last mile. State-of-the-art Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) protocol is offered and business customers can opt for a redundant fiber feed to their facility to further decrease any incidence of downtime. This year's Smart City Award at the 2006 Digital Cities Conference went to Dalton.

High-speed connectivity for businesses and residents is also available through Windstream Communications, the nation's largest telecommunications and entertainment service company focused on rural America. Windstream offers frame relay, VPN, VoIP and Transparent LAN service, as well premise equipment and voice solutions, among other options.

Charter Communications offers broadband and wireless networking, as well as Optical Eternet, point to point networking and security and backup services. Charter also provides industry-specific packages for vertical markets including real estate, financial services, retail and more.

Dalton's historic downtown is now a wireless hotspot, too. This attention to technological detail means businesses have a competitive edge and residents have an improved quality of life.

The Dalton-Whitfield Economic Development Authority is ready to work with technology-driven companies wishing to expand or locate in the community. For more information, email us at Tech@DaltonGrows.Biz.
